I moved to America over 20 years ago when Charles Taylor instigated a gruesome and violent war in my country of Liberia. Feeling like it was her only option, my mom sent me to America with some friends who were approved for the refugee program. She believed this would provide me with a chance at a better life. As I grew into a young woman, the financial needs of my family back home have became my obligation. Frequently, I have to send money to be used for schooling for my siblings. This is one of the reasons why I am a part of this wonderful organization. We are able to show Christ’s love by making Christ-centered education a priority, This gives children an opportunity to make something of themselves at no cost to their family, freeing them up to focus on other financial obligations.
