Highlights of the Dedication Program-September 10, 2021
By Harry S. Gorwor
The early morning was cloudy and subsequent rain fall lasted for a few hours. Thankfully, it receded just an hour to the start of the program; a sudden ray of sunlight pervaded the sky, giving hope for a colorful celebration.
It was a memorable day of celebrating the Lord’s blessing on our school – the dedication of two additional buildings for Gifts of Hope Community School. The first is a 3-classroom annex, which expands our capacity to a full elementary school and the second building is a library. The two buildings have toilets within them, tile, and mini offices attached. They are fully completed and furnished.
All being set by 10:30am, the invitees, including parents, teachers, government officials and others from the community arrived. Without further delay, the program kicked off minutes later with Miss Doris Tokpah serving as master of ceremony. Over 120 people were in attendance. Three journalists from the local radio stations in Kakata were present to cover the ceremony as well.
A team of gospel musicians from God’s Power Ministry, along with their pastor, Reagan Tuway, led the audience in a time of singing and praise to God. Everyone sang joyfully, praising and thanking God for His countless blessings. The praise time was concluded with an invocation by Mr. Emmanuel Tokpah.
In separate remarks, Mr Shadrach W. Pewee and Mr. Harry Gorwor welcomed everyone to the occasion. Speaking further Mr. Gorwor presented the facilities to guests, parents and the community to be dedicated to God’s glory. We then moved on to the crux of the occasion – the dedication ceremony.
With guests and parents standing in a large semi-circle, facing the new school building, Honorable Ellen Attoh Wreh, Representative of District #3, Margibi County, was invited to make remarks and cut the ribbon to the new building.
In brief remarks, the Representative thanked Gifts of Hope School and their partners/sponsors for their incredible investment in education for the Liberian children. She said the community was privileged to have a school of that kind. She further praised the facility, describing it as conducive, modern, and ideal for learning. Amid cheers from the audience, Hon. Attoh Wreh cut the ribbon to the new annex, followed by a dedicatory prayer by Rev. Amos Divine. With great excitement the guests and parents toured the building.
Still in exuberant mood, everyone proceeded to the second phase of the dedication program, which was the library. Grace Mardea Gorwor was asked to cut the ribbon to the entrance. Again, prayer of dedication was offered by Rev. Divine.
Before viewing the library facility, a few guests were invited to make remarks. They included representatives of the Honorable Superintendent of Margibi County, the City Mayor, the District and County Education Officers as well as parents. The government representatives made similar remarks in which they praised both of the facilities and said such development was a big boost to government’s strides for quality education.
In closing remarks, Mrs. Sarah Gorwor thanked everyone for being part of such a historic occasion and admonished parents to make maximum use of this great educational opportunity for their children.
The leadership of Gifts of Hope in Liberia proudly joins the many voices to say thank you to Christian Education in Liberia (CEL) Board and their faithful partners and donors, whose generous gifts funded the projects.
Special thanks go to our brother, Tom Vander Stelt who placed a very timely call during the dedication program and was able to make a short, profound remark. He said it well when he said it was important for parents, teachers, and the community to work together to ensure the facilities be used to educate the children, so that they become better future leaders of their country.
Thanks to all and to God be the glory!
